Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recall Vitamin D
After as many recalls as there were this summer, it seems like going a month without a dog food recall is a pretty good stretch. But here we go again with another one: Blue Buffalo is voluntarily recalling 6 kinds of dry dog food, including a large breed formula. These foods have too much Vitamin D in them, which can be harmful to some dogs.
The foods being recalled are:

These are the only foods affected by the recall. They were distributed nationwide. So far, 36 dogs across the country have been reported with symptoms of too much Vitamin D.
Vitamin D is good for dogs in certain quantities but can cause adverse effects when too much is eaten. Symptoms of excess Vitamin D (a Vitamin D overdose?) include lethargy, abnormally frequent water consumption and urination. These symptoms are not as serious as some of the other recalls we've seen recently but are still something to watch out for if you've been feeding your big dog one of these foods. Contact your vet if your dog shows signs of a Vitamin D overdose.
